Dr Alex Bowden is a specialist psychiatrist and psychotherapist based in Cairns, Queensland. Dr Bowden offers comprehensive psychiatric assessment, ongoing treatment, and individual psychotherapy.

Services

General Psychiatric Care

Dr Bowden offers private outpatient psychiatric care for adolescents (16+) and adults, including comprehensive psychiatric assessment for new patients and ongoing care for existing mental health conditions.

 

Dr Bowden has a special interest in working with people experiencing complex trauma, functional disorders, medically-unexplained symptoms, and neurodevelopmental differences (neurodiversity). 

Neurodevelopmental Assessment

Individual Psychotherapy

Dr Bowden offers individual psychotherapy for patients where this is appropriate. Psychotherapy provides a structured space to explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and to better understand how past experiences may shape current difficulties. This work is often gradual and requires consistency, but can lead to meaningful and sustained change over time. For more detailed information regarding psychotherapy please click here
